Bachmann’s take on the “gay agenda,” part one of no doubt many.

The Internet offers a wealth of excellently stupid quotes from Bachmann on homosexuality. Like many nutbag religious conservatives, she thinks gay people are out to get children. Possibly as a result, she was behind a proposed amendment to the state constitution that would have banned same-sex marriage. On what might happen if it failed:
“It isn’t that some gay will get some rights. It’s that everyone else in our state will lose rights. For instance, parents will lose the right to protect and direct the upbringing of their children. Because our K-12 public school system, of which ninety per cent of all youth are in the public school system, they will be required to learn that homosexuality is normal, equal and perhaps you should try it. And that will occur immediately, that all schools will begin teaching homosexuality.”
— Said while a guest on the radio program “Prophetic Views Behind The News,” KKMS 980-AM, March 6, 2004. (This is just one of numerous sources for the quote.)

We’re not even sure we should even bother explaining why this is illogical. Suffice to say that the ban failed twice, but homosexuality has not yet replaced algebra in Minnesota public schools. (Or in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Canada, Spain, etc.)
